Welcome to UCD! Today University College Dublin is opening its doors to allow prospective students experience what it would be like to attend the university that is the First Choice for Irish Leavers and the First Choice for International Students studying in Ireland.
With such a jam-packed day filled with activities, seminars, and demonstrations ahead, we at myUCD figured it would be beneficial to highlight the events that should be flashing on your radar this Saturday.
What: The Central Exhibition
Where: O’Reilly Hall
When: 10:00am – 4:00pm
If you are stuck on where to head first, we highly suggest you head to O’Reilly Hall for the Central Exhibition. Here is the epicenter of all things UCD; any questions you have about the college can and will be answered at one of the many stands, ranging from student life to accommodation. In addition, most academic subjects will have a booth, allowing you to ask questions one-to-one about a course that may interest you.
myUCD Tip: Are you not sure what you want to study? Head to the Central Exhibition first thing in the morning and have a chat with the representatives at the booth. Did any subject strike you as your future course? Good! Now, use the UCD Open Day Guide to find a Subject Specific talk in the Programme of Talks to get an even deeper insight on your prospective courses.
What: Study Abroad Opportunities at UCD Talk
Where: Gerard Manley Hopkins Centre Global Lounge
When: 11:30am and 1:30pm
Just because you are a student at UCD does not mean you are stuck in Dublin for the entirety of your degree! If you’re looking for adventure during your university career, look no further than this General Talk. Here, you’ll learn the ins and outs of studying abroad in one of our many partnering universities around the world. The options are truly limitless for each and every course, so join in on this chat and find out why UCD is truly a global university!

Where: Kilty Suite Outreach Lab and Classroom in the O’Brien Student Centre
When: Throughout the Day
Have you always dreamed of throwing on a lab coat and goggles to experiment in the lab? Well then UCD Open Day is your lucky day! Science students from all disciplines, including Earth Science, Chemistry, and Computer Science, will be demonstrating some of their most interesting work. Here, you’ll get a quick taste of the huge range of subjects that fall under the science umbrella. Show up early to get a spot optimal for viewing!
What: UCD Preforming Arts Societies
Where: Student Center Atrium
When: 12:00pm, 1:00pm, and 2:00pm
After reading this post, I can see how you believe that all a UCD student does is study, study, and study some more. Although we do take our academics quite seriously, there is always time to peruse your hobbies in different clubs and societies. Today, the Preforming Arts Societies (UCD Jazz Society, UCD Musical Society Choir, and the UCD Music Society Gospel Choir) will be showing off their talents to you. Have you always been ready for the limelight? Ask any member how being a member of these societies has shaped their UCD experience, and you’ll be itching to join come September!

What: UCD Sport, Recreation, and Scholarship Program in UCD
Where: Icon Theatre O’Brien Center for Science
When: 12:00pm and 2:30pm
Are you a champion athlete? Or maybe a hopeful one at best? No matter what your skill level, this talk will tell you all you need to know about getting involved with UCD Sport. Whether you’re the most elite athlete in your sport or looking to try something completely new, come learn how UCD has it all in athletics.
