Thinking about studying Engineering in UCD? Well here’s a quick rundown.
Currently there are 7 different engineering degree’s on offer in UCD, with all students coming into a common entry first year followed by choosing a specialty area.

Quick facts:
- The Engineering building opened in 1989.
- There are approximately 320 staff and 2200 students.
- UCD School of Engineering is the largest Engineering college in Ireland
- divided into 6 schools: Chemical, Civil, Electrical, Electronic, Bio-systems, Food, Mechanical, Materials.
- also combined with architecture, landscape architecture, planning and environmental policy.
- Academics from the schools are members and fellows of organisations such as Engineers Ireland, the IChemE, the IEEE, Royal Irish Academy and Royal Academy of Engineering.
- Within the building is the Steam Beam Engine: this was originally installed in the Jameson Distillery on Bow St in Dublin in 1884. It is turned on occasionally!
