Interested in studying Agricultural Sciences in UCD? Well here’s a quick run down.

There are currently 11 degree options with a common first year, DN250, to give students grounding in basic sciences, maths and economics. In second year you will choose your pathway within Agricultural Science.

  • UCD is the only university in Ireland with a dedicated School of Agriculture and Food Science
  • Over 50 academic staff in the school
  • UCD’s programmes are unique due to the integrated teaching and research spanning over the complete food chain from farm to fork – within a single institution
  • Agriculture and Forestry are one of the nine subject areas in UCD ranked in the top 100 Universities in the World QS rankings.
  • Lyons Research Farm:
    • Teaching and research facility in Newcastle, Co Kildare (30km from UCD) in the areas of beef, crops, dairy, equine, sheep and pigs. Used for undergrads, postgrads, staff and with graduates and other agri-professionals for continuous professional development events.
    • Part of the original Lyons Estate purchased in 1963. House itself was formerly the seat of Lord Cloncurry.
    • Farm consists of 220 hectares.
    • Lyon’s now boasts a new Dairy Research & Education Facility.
