Interested in studying medicine in UCD? Well here’s a quick rundown.
UCD currently has two medicine courses – a 6-year program for Leaving Certificate applicants and a 4-year graduate entry route for degree holders. Here’s an overview of the program:

Quick facts:
- The Health Sciences Centre is home to the School of Medicine, Nursing and Physiotherapy, Sports & Public Health. There are approx 4,000 students across the 3 Schools; about half of these in Medicine.
- The building is designed in the shape of a horseshoe, where the Schools surround the central library building. The main building extends over four floors, with the ground floors consisting of lecture theatre and classroom facilities, an open access computer suite, IT services centre and social space.
- Designed by Murray O’Laoire Architects, the UCD Health Science Centre was highly commended in the two categories of ‘Sustainable Projects, and ‘Best Educational Building’.
- The building offers a multi-disciplinary environment where students of diagnostic imaging, medicine, nursing and physiotherapy train and develop together.
- A unique Health Sciences Library is the focal point to the centre.
- The ground floor contains a number of lecture theatres which range in size from 110 – 300 in seating capacity.
